Rclone Backup is operated by the owner of this site for personal backups and restoration. Google authorization is used by Rclone on the owner’s device. This public site serves informational pages and is separate from the backup and authorization processes.
Google Drive access
Rclone requests https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This permission allows Rclone to create files and folders in Google Drive and to read, update and delete the specific files and folders available to this OAuth client. The backup uses this permission to list and read backup objects and their metadata, upload new objects, retrieve objects for restoration, and remove obsolete objects during repository maintenance.
Storage, security and sharing
Restic encrypts the backup data locally before Rclone sends it to Google Drive over HTTPS. Google Drive stores the encrypted objects and the metadata needed to manage them, such as file names, sizes and identifiers. Restoration takes place on the owner’s device using the Restic password. Rclone stores OAuth credentials and tokens in its local configuration to keep the connection authorized.
The owner’s Google Drive account is the cloud destination for the backup. Access to the backups is reserved for the owner. Data received from Google APIs is used solely to operate and maintain the backups and restore files. Rclone Backup handles this data in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention, deletion and revocation
Backups are retained in the owner’s Google Drive account until the owner removes them through repository maintenance or deletes the backup files in Google Drive. Files moved to Google Drive Trash follow Google Drive’s trash retention rules. The owner can revoke OAuth access in Google Account connections. Existing backup files remain in Drive until removed separately.
Website requests and contact
The web server may record technical details of failed requests, such as the IP address, time and path, for troubleshooting. Error logs are subject to rotation. For privacy questions, use the support email listed on the Google OAuth consent screen for Rclone Backup.
